3rd Nine Weeks

Welcome back!! We are now in the 3rd Nine Weeks of school. Students will continue to learn new things everyday so regular attendance is very important. While we do what we can in the classroom, it is also very important that you also do your part at home. For more information about what your child will learn during the 3rd Nine Weeks of school, click the following link to be directed to the Memphis City School Standards-Based Report to Families.

Welcome to First Grade

Dear Parents,

Welcome to first grade at Oakhaven Elementary.  I am looking forward to being your child’s teacher and getting to know you and your family this year.  It is important that we keep the lines of communication open throughout the school year.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have and I will do the same.  We will work together to make your child’s first grade year a terrific one.

First grade is a year filled with fun and huge leaps in learning. First graders develop fundamental work habits, appropriate social behavior, problem solving and decision making skills and of course, academic skills.  If you are interested in specific academic standards for first grade, you are invited to visit the Memphis City Schools website at www.mcsk12.net.

I will do my best to get your child home safely each day.  If your child is going home a different way than they usually do, please let me know. We dismiss all walkers and car riders promptly at 3:15. The bus riders are dismissed first.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact me via the information listed below.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hester,  1st Grade Teacher
